Isolated Barriers
Intrinsic safety barriers are the core of Pepperl+Fuchs' product portfolio. We offer the widest selection of products for protection of electrical signals located in hazardous areas. These intrinsic safety modules combine the energy limiting features of a zener barrier with galvanic isolation. Pepperl+Fuchs offers systems for different applications and mountings.

Zener Barriers
Zener barriers – cost saving and easy mounting Ex-protectionZener barriers provide cost saving Ex-protection for various applications in process automation systems. The amount of energy transferred to the hazardous location is limited to a safe level incapable of igniting the explosive atmosphere. Pepperl+Fuchs offers a wide product portfolio of housing and connection styles, which include DIN rail, termination board mounted, and accessories for each application. Zener barriers have to be connected to an IS ground. The IS grounding can be realized several ways: - Isolated from the DIN- Rail
- Via an isolated DIN-Rail
- Via DIN-Rail
Field replaceable fuses provide a convenient means of disconnecting or open-circuiting the instrument loop without interfering with the wiring, making commissioning and maintenance operations much easier.

Signal Conditioners
Overview What are signal conditioners? With the variety of process control systems available, it is often necessary to convert an input signal into a format that the system will accept. Signal conditioners take signals from an assortment of field instruments such as thermocouples and RTDs, and convert those signals into any of several standard instrument signals (1…5V, 4…20 mA, etc.).
Signal conditioners are also beneficial to the accurate transfer of these signals, isolation and the elimination of ground loops. The K-System The K-System guarantees a reliable and economical signal transmission between your field devices and the control system. Whether your plans include a single isolating module or a large scale system integration, application-oriented solutions characterize the entire K-System product range. The K-System modules are DIN-Rail mounted and can be powered by using the Power Rail. Power Rail System The Power Rail System allows a simple snap-in of the interface modules on the DIN-Rail. The power supply and monitoring of lead errors will be transferred with reliable, gold-plated rails. Benefits include reduced wiring, fewer connections and simplified expansions in the future.

HART Interface Solutions
OverviewHART Interface Solutions from Pepperl+Fuchs consist of two HART Multiplexer Systems for multiple signal loops and a HART Loop Converter for single loop applications. The Multiplexer is used to connect HART field devices to Asset Management Systems like AMS™ Suite: Intelligent Device Mananger from Emerson Process Management. At the heart of HART Interface Solution (HIS), the HART Multiplexer acts like a gateway device, routing communications between the maintenance workstation PC and the HART field devices.
It interrogates each HART device, retrieves device information, and stores it in an internal database. This information is made available by the AMS Device Manager or PACTware. The HART Multiplexer also acts as a message coordinator for communication between the maintenance workstation PC and the HART devices. For a single loop solution, the HART Loop Converter allows access to all process variables provided by a field device and transfers them to conventional 4..20mA loop. This enables it to make use of the hidden measurements done by many field devices and feed them to conventional DCS Systems.

Separator Alarm Systems
Overview An alarm system is used in the separator to detect the volume of the light liquid and/or the maximum level of a liquid. This ensures the safe and economic operation of separators for light liquids, also known as oil and petrol separators. The requirements for this type of separator systems has been defined in the European standard EN 858-1. It is a condition for the CE mark and defines the criteria for a device raising an alarm if the light liquid or liquid waste level is too high or the liquid waste level is too low. The alarm system and the sensors guarantee an increased level of safety, simple installation, and an application-oriented monitoring of oil and petrol separators. The signalling of alarms can be acoustic, visual, transmitted remotely via potential-free relay contacts or via SMS. The sensors of the alarm systems are approved for use in explosive areas of zone 0. Below please find our product portfolio for these applications:
